Bardless Wonders
who sings of these our deeds save beardless entities
unembodied photons at six with film to follow
at eleven
provided our ennui will freeze us
to our couches like proverbial tubers
or tumors
what’s the difference
numbers numbers numbers digits ciphers
who can sing of quality when quantity is what we are
the peaks of our accomplishments ground down
to plains of mediocrity by our weight
glorious lays of valor and derring-do cannot be heard
above the susurrus of billions
and were it possible
who would voice them to us
malthus maybe
we need a swift solution to us
lest that peerless prognosticating possum
be proven right
